The son of Federal Minister of the Interior, Ajay Kumar Mishra, filed a murder case on suspicion of driving a car against farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. At least 14 people have been named in the FIR.

Four farmers were among the eight people killed in the incident. At least 14 people have been named in the FIR. The farmers claimed that Ashish Mishra, the minister’s son, cut down the protesting farmers during the protest. On the other hand, the minister and his son insisted that they were not at the scene of the violence and their drivers and workers were attacked and killed by protesters. “My son was not at the scene. Gangsters attacked the workers with sticks and swords. If my son was there, he would not come out alive,” the news agency ANI quoted Mr. Mishra, the junior interior minister. He said: “My son attended the (Deputy Chief Minister) event…I have always accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister.” The farmers gathered to block the visit of Federal Ministers Ajay Mishra and UP Dy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya because they were disturbed by Mishra’s recent speech. At the end of last month, Mishra dismissed the protest against the farm law, calling it “a protest of 10-15 people, and it only takes two minutes for them to line up.”
