In a phone discussion with Gulshan Devaiah, the actor adds that just before our contact, he spoke to his ex-wife, Kallirroi Tziafeta (33), also an actor. After getting married in 2012, the couple divorced in 2020. Devaiah says, “My ex-wife and I are very much in love. We just couldn’t make it (the marriage) work. However, love is present. I have always understood that a successful marriage requires more than just love. Marriage entails responsibilities as well. Going through life with someone else requires ongoing negotiation, which can be challenging. The sole cause of our divorce is that.

Devaiah insists that they are in frequent communication and that their relationship is “cordial”: “We are very much involved in each other’s life, but not in a romantic way. We adore and support one another. When asked if divorce has altered his concept of love, the 44-year-old responds, “Not at all.” He would rather fall in love once more without actively seeking it out. “I am open to getting married again, though I am not pursuing it. But I’m not sure if I’m ready to start a family. But that can be worked out,” he argues.

The Badhaai Do actor outlines the need to make room for a new person after ending a ten-year relationship. You must also allow yourself enough time and space.

Devaiah elaborates on speaking about his divorce, saying, “I never believed my marriage would fail. Although I did witness many of my friends’ marriages break down, most notably Kalki-Anurag (actress Kalki Koechlin and director Anurag Kashyap), I was confident that it wouldn’t happen to me. Still, it did. We were unable to make it work.
