Nearly 50 years after its premiere, actor Naseeruddin Shah talked about being a part of the 77th Cannes Film Festival screening of his 1976 film Manthan. The actor described it as a “terribly emotional experience” in an interview with Brut India. In addition, he declared that he had never felt more proud of this movie. In addition, Naseeruddin claimed that walking the red carpet and taking part in the film festival seemed surreal to him.”

Naseeruddin recalls Amrish Puri, Girish Karnad, and Smita Patil.

Naseeruddin remarked, “It didn’t seem real.” I’ve always seen the red carpet event on film or in pictures. I’ve witnessed these stunning women strutting around in their exquisite clothes. I had no idea that one day I would be involved in it. So my wife and I tried to make things as easy as we could. It was also, naturally, an extremely emotional event. because a large number of pals were in the movie. Girish was my instructor and a buddy. He oversaw FTII as its director. Amrish and Smita were close friends. They are all no longer present.”

Naseeruddin found it difficult to control his tears.

“So many faces which one had sort of slipped one’s memory,” he said. To see everyone once more who was taken into the facility, nearly everyone who used to be there… I had never felt more proud of a movie than I did at that moment. This movie has always held a special place in my heart. I was so moved by the event that I found it difficult to control my emotions. Furthermore, I think the movie has endured the test of time rather well.”
