A number of union ministers and leaders wished the country for National Day of the Girl Child, which is celebrated on Monday (January 24). Union ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Hardeep Puri posted their wishes on social media.
“Prime Minister @NarendraModi Ji’s transformation of women’s development thinking into women’s determination to lead development has opened doors of opportunity. Daughters of this country are shining India’s name in every field today. On National Day of the Girl, I My best wishes to every daughter of India, the pride of this country,” Shah tweeted. The minister said it became a people’s movement.
The Indian government launched the BBBP programme on January 22, 2015 to address major issues related to women’s empowerment in the country.
“With determination, skill and ambition, the daughters of this country have made their mark in every field today. Under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, Gadkari posted on Koo. In 2008, the Government of India declared 24th January as National Day of the Girl Child. The aim is to raise awareness of the girl child in society so that she can be valued and respected.
The event is celebrated to raise awareness of the inequalities, discrimination and exploitation girls face in society.

National Day of the Girl Child is celebrated through a variety of programmes, including campaigns to create a healthy and safe environment for girls.
