Navjot Sidhu’s shocked resignation as chairman of the Punjab parliament-described by his advisers as an “emotional” outburst-surprised the party. Navjot Singh Sidhu re-joined after reaching an agreement with Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi on a controversial appointment on Thursday. Before next year’s opinion polls, Congress plunged into new turmoil.

1. Charanjit Channi will meet the Supreme Leader in Delhi today. Discussing that balancing Mr. Sidhu’s requirements and expectations of work focus may be a key agenda. After Mr. Channi became the face of the first Sikh Sikh pariah to lead Punjab, Congress slammed critics of the party during the turmoil, calling them “anti-Dalits.”

2. Navjot Sidhu was shocked to resign as chairman of the Punjab parliament-described by his advisers as an “emotional” outbreak-caught the party off guard on Tuesday, and he will keep the loop in the selection of a replacement for the state’s Attorney General Amar Preet Singh Deol. The source said.

3. After Chaney took office last month, Punjab’s high-level bureaucracy was reorganized. APS Deol, who represented a former senior police officer in the controversial 2015 police dismissal case, was appointed to the position on Monday because Atul Nanda resigned after Amarinder Singh unceremoniously withdrew from Punjab’s chief minister.

4. A team of 10 members has been sent to UPSC (Joint Public Service Committee) to appoint a new Chief of Police (DGP)-another sticking point. According to sources, Mr. Charney is prepared to abandon Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota’s post as the chief of police in Punjab. Just last week, he was also selected for this role.

5. The appointment of Mr. Sahota is a problem because he is the head of a special investigation team responsible for investigating the blasphemy case in 2015-a very emotional issue. The investigation of the blasphemy incident and the subsequent opening by the police were also the cause of the discord between Amarinder Singh and Mr. Sidhu.

6. Congress also agreed to form a government party group before the state polls to be held early next year.

7. Mr. Sidhu was also upset about the changes in the cabinet after Mr. Channi took office.

8. Navjot Singh Sidhu was appointed Chairman of the Punjab Provincial Assembly after a year-long feud with Amarinder Singh. “My struggle is problem-based, and I have persisted for a long time. I cannot compromise on my morals and moral authority,” Mr. Sidou said in a video statement a day after his resignation. “What I have witnessed is the compromise of Punjab’s issues and agenda. I cannot mislead the Supreme Command, nor can I let them be misled,” he added.

9. One of the top leaders of Punjab, Amarind Singh, announced on Thursday that he will withdraw from Congress, but will not join the BJP. This remark was made the day after he met with Interior Minister Amit Shah, and his assistant said it was about farmers.

10. The captain also admitted that congressional unrest will benefit AAP, and the party is preparing for a tough battle in state elections.
