The Supreme Court will hear the NEET PG Counseling 2021 EWS/OBC quota request on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Whereas, the resident doctors objected to delaying the consultation round of NEET PG.
The matter will be heard by a special court led by Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice AS Bopanna. India’s Attorney General Tushar Mehta sought an emergency listing, which was subsequently approved by the Chief Justice of India N V Ramana.
The NEET PG consultation was postponed after it filed a defense to the Supreme Court against the center’s decision to review the determination of the EWS quota in the all-India quota. In Delhi and other parts of the country, residents of several hospitals under the banner of the Federation of Resident Associations (FORDA) have protested the delay in consultation meetings.
NEET 2021: Hearing likely to begin soon
Supreme Court hearing on NEET PG is expected to begin soon. The petition will be heard by a two-judge bench of justices DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna.

NEET: Maharashtra resident doctors called off their strike
Maharashtra resident doctors who were on strike due to delay in NEET PG counselling schedule have called off their strike on January 4, 2022. The strike was called off after a “fruitful” meeting with the state medical education and research director was held.
NEET PG Hearing: Preponed a day
On November 25, 2021, the bench had fixed it for hearing next on January 6, 2022. But with the Centre citing urgency, the matter has now been listed before the two-judge bench a day before i.e., January 5, 2022.

In its affidavit filed in the apex court, the Centre has said it has decided to accept the recommendations of a three-member panel to retain the current gross annual family income limit for defining Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) at ₹8 lakh or less.
