The hanging date of Nirbhaya’s culprits has now come to a close. If there is no problem, then the four criminals of Nirbhaya will be hanged on February 1. The Tihar jail administration has also completed all the preparations for the execution. On Tuesday, the four criminals were last met with their family members. However, all four criminals are still trying their best to avoid hanging.
The mercy petition of Nirbhaya convict Mukesh Singh has already been dismissed. Mukesh has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the mercy petition being rejected. The Supreme Court will give its verdict on this today. On the other hand, another convict Akshay has filed a curative petition on Tuesday. Another convict Vinay will file a mercy petition today.
Today Tihar Jail will answer:
The Supreme Court has asked the Tihar administration that the date of execution has been decided by the sessions court, has any death warrant been issued? Today Wednesday morning the Tihar administration will reply in this regard.
DG Tihar has confirmed that the guilty Akshay has imposed a curative petition. The Supreme Court has also sought answers from Tihar, which got the Tihar Jail yesterday. Tihar will reply today that the death warrant of 1 February has been issued. According to him, the curative petition will be heard soon as February 1 is near. The Tihar Jail Administration is also taking legal opinion on whether an accused can only be hanged first or not after all legal avenues are over.
