Amid the ongoing protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, the Home Ministry has said, “It will be sufficient for citizens to give information about their date of birth and place of birth.” If the illiterate people do not have enough documents, the ministry has said, “In such cases, the person will be able to bring witnesses … Community verification will also be done. No citizen will be harassed irresponsibly.”
