Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Nepal on Monday for a quick visit to Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, and a meeting with his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, including hydropower, development, and connectivity.
“I’ve arrived in Nepal. On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, I am delighted to be among Nepal’s wonderful people. “Looking forward to the Lumbini programmes,” Modi tweeted.
On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, Modi, who is in the Himalayan nation at Deuba’s invitation, is paying a day-long visit to Lumbini. The prime minister’s visit to Nepal is his fifth since 2014. Modi and his entourage flew in from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, aboard a special Indian Air Force helicopter.
