Indian troops have made contact with Chinese troops after a 17-year-old boy was reported missing near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Shangxiang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Defence agency sources told NDTV that the People’s Liberation Army had been contacted through a “hotline” to remind them that an Indian citizen who was out hunting had lost his way. The sources said China’s assistance in finding and repatriating him had been sought under established agreements.
On Wednesday, Tapir Gao, a Lok Sabha MP from Alencar (east), reported Miram Taron’s disappearance, telling news agency PTI Taron and his friend Johny Yaiying had been targeted.
Mr Gao told PTI by phone from Ziro, the headquarters in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, that Yaiying “fleeed the PLA” and warned the authorities.
“All agencies of the Indian government are being asked to step up their efforts to get him released at an early date,” Mr Ko said, flagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the Indian Army.
