The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday (September 23) passed the three historic and path-breaking labour bills including the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, the Industrial Relations Code 2020 and the Code on Social Security, 2020.
The Rajya Sabha took up three Bills related to industries and workers together for a discussion on Wednesday. The three Bills were moved for consideration by Labour Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar.
Industrial Relation Code (1/2)
- Provision for two members instead of one member in the industrial tribunal.
- Provision for taking dispute matters to tribunal incase not resolved at conciliation stage.
- implementation of award in 30 days after tribunal award
- workers to have the option of fixed term employment instead of contract labour and to get benefits like a regular employee.
Industrial Relation Code (1/2)
- For mediation on any dispute , a provision for negotiation trade union and negotiating council introduced.
- tribunal for resolving disputes arising between trade unions.
- Provisions made for giving recognition to trade unions at central & state level .
- Re-skilling fund made in the law for the first time. 15day’s salary to be given for re-skilling in the event of loss job within 45 days .
