Portugal captain Pepe has tested positive for cocaine and will miss the World Cup qualifier against Turkey. Tiago Djaló of French club Lille has been called up as his replacement. Portugal play Turkey in a playoff game in Porto on Thursday, 1 October.
It wasn’t yet clear if the 39-year-old would be able to play in Portugal’s second World Cup qualifier against Bosnia-Herzegovina next week.
