Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to famed freedom fighter Lara Rajpat Rai on his birthday on Friday.
Recalling “Punjab Kesari” as Rai was known, Modi said his story of bravery, struggle and dedication in the struggle for freedom will always be remembered by the nation.
Born in 1865, Rai was an avid nationalist who also worked on social reform and wrote regularly, inspiring revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh.
