PM Modi Took Power Ministry’s Class, Directed To Remove Problems

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday emphasized the need to increase consumer satisfaction while improving the financial position of the power sector. Reviewing the work of the Ministry of Power and New and Renewable Energy on Wednesday evening, PM Modi said that the problems in the power sector, especially in the power distribution segment, are different in regions and states.

During the review, policy initiatives including the revised tariff policy and the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 were also discussed in view of the problems facing the power sector. PM Modi suggested that the distribution companies publish their performance parameters from time to time so that people know how their providers are doing.

PM Narendra Modi also emphasized that equipment used in the power sector should be made in India. Discussing new and renewable energy, PM Modi emphasized the need for a holistic approach to the entire supply chain of agriculture, ranging from solar water pumps to decentralized solar cold storage.

The statement issued by the government said that the Prime Minister also suggested drinking water supply in the coastal areas using solar and wind energy and appealed to the officials-ministries to take steps in this direction.
