PM Modi to deliver special address at World Economic Forum’s Davos Agenda today

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a special speech on the Davos agenda of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Monday. According to the WEF website, the address is scheduled to take place at 1600 hours Central European Time (CET) or 8.30pm IST.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Chinese President Xi Jinping and European Commission President Ursua von der Leyen Several other heads of state will deliver speeches.

The event will also witness the participation of top industry leaders, international organisations and civil society who will discuss the major challenges facing the world today and how to address them.

According to the World Economic Forum’s Agenda website, the virtual plenary meeting will align with the annual meeting’s goal to “guide global leaders to the imperatives of the year ahead.”

The Geneva-based World Economic Forum said disparate experiences with the pandemic have exacerbated global divisions, while vaccine inequities, combined with new strains, have slowed the international economic recovery. It now urges all world leaders to prioritize active cooperation.

The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in the Swiss ski resort of Davos has been postponed due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
