Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inaugurating 134 development projects worth about Rs 1,583 crore during his visit to Varanasi.

Kashi region BJP president Mahesh Chandra Srivastava told the media that the PM will inaugurate 68 development projects worth Rs 744 crore and lay the foundation of over 65 projects worth Rs 839 crore; With addressing a public meeting at IIT-BHU ground during his visit to the temple town.

These projects include the inauguration of Varanasi International Cooperation and Convention Center (VICCC) ‘Rudraksh’, Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Maternal and Child Health Branch of SSL Hospital (BHU), operation of cruise boat from Rajghat to Assi Ghat, installation of signage. Operation of RORO ships in Ganga and others at all 84 Ghats.

Srivastava also said that the PM will launch development projects at the IIT-BHU ground during an event and after that, he will address the people present at the event.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provided the finance for the construction of the VICCC, which cost around Rs 186 crore. Fujita Corporation, a Japanese company that was awarded the contract to build the center, built it and handed it over to Varanasi Smart City for its management.
