62 terrorists have been killed so far this year in various encounters in Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Thursday. Of these, 47 were locals, the police added. Vijay Kumar, inspector-general of police (Kashmir), said 32 were neutralised within three months of joining the ranks of various terror outfits.

Two AK rifles were recovered after a joint team of police and Army officers came face-to-face with militants from Al-Badr and JeM, both of whom were also killed.

Hafiz Ahmed Masoom Ansari and his brother Ayub Ahmed Masoor have been arrested in connection with attacks on labourers from outside Jammu and Kashmir.
