The UP government has issued 4.5 million rupees each to the families of four farmers who were allegedly knocked down by an SUV belonging to the family of Federal Minister Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra and reporter Raman Kashyap.
On Wednesday, the family of BJP worker Shyam Sundar also received a check of 4.5 million rupees, and the same amount was sent to the family of BJP worker Shubham Mishra and driver Hari Om Mishra. He also promised a job for close relatives to all the families of the deceased. “This is an unfortunate incident. We have paid compensation to all eight families,” said a senior government official at UP. But Congress decided to provide compensation to only five of the eight people-four farmers and journalists.
“The other three (two BJP workers and the driver of Talche) participated in the brutal massacre of farmers. How can they be compensated? They are the defendants,” a congressional leader in Uttar Pradesh told News18. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party stated that the three were lynched to death and pointed out that Rahul Gandhi and Payaka Gandhi chose not to visit these three families during their visit to Rahimpur.
Congress tried to surpass the UP government in compensating the families of the four farmers and journalists who died. The state governments administered by the Congresses of Punjab and Chhattisgarh will provide them with 5 million rupees each, so that each family will receive a total compensation of 1 million rupees. Akhilesh Yadav, Chairman of the Samajwadi Party, stated that the UP government should provide farmers’ families with a compensation of Rs 20 crore.
Akhilesh Yadav and BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra are expected to announce compensation to the five families during their visit to Rahimpur on Thursday. Like Congress, the SP is also expected to ignore the case of two BJP workers and a car driver allegedly shown in a viral video showing farmers protesting the new agricultural marketing reforms.
