Priyanka Chopra discusses colorism and how she felt more talented than her “lighter-skinned co-stars.”

Priyanka Chopra is no stranger to discrimination. The Indian-born actress, who now resides in the United States, has faced racism and sexism throughout her career. In a recent interview, Chopra discussed colorism in the entertainment industry and how she felt more talented than her “lighter-skinned co-stars.”

“I remember being on set and feeling like I was the most talented person there, but because I wasn’t white, I wasn’t getting the same opportunities,” she said. “It’s something that’s still very prevalent in our industry.”

Chopra is just one of many actresses of color who have spoken out about colorism in Hollywood. Viola Davis, Lupita Nyong’o, and Gabrielle Union are just a few of the women who have discussed the issue.

“It’s an insidious form of discrimination that is often perpetuated by those in positions of power,” Union wrote in an essay for Lenny Letter. “It’s the kind of racism that is hard to prove, because it exists in the subtext, in the way people talk to and about you.”

The conversation around colorism is an important one, and Chopra is using her platform to help continue it. “

Family Star review

The Hindustan Times’ review of the movie Family Star, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Parasuram Petla, suggests that the film struggles to make a mark or entertain, with issues reminiscent of Geetha Govindam (2018). The film tests patience and fails to maintain interest as it progresses.

The review criticizes the plot of Family Star, stating that it is thin and defies logic, making it difficult to enjoy. It also suggests that the film’s portrayal of middle-class life is caricaturish, as if it was written by someone unfamiliar with the realities of such a life.
