From now on, the city of Pune will have a completely new look, thanks to such measures taken by civic groups. According to the Hindustan Times, the Pune Municipal Corporation will soon install “garbage collection ATMs” in the city.
The ATM will collect plastic bottles, glass bottles, metal cans and plastic wrapping paper. To provide more details, Standing Committee Chairman Hemant Rasane said that if citizens handed over empty plastic bottles, they would get Re1, and if they handed over a glass bottle, they would get 3 rupees.
He also added that one of the startups had already submitted a proposal to install these devices. According to the latest update, Pune will install a total of 40 such ATMs in phases. It must be pointed out that Delhi and Varanasi have installed and operated such garbage collection ATMs. In order to exchange money for the bottle, citizens will receive the money in their bank account and they need to register their mobile phone number.
To this end, citizens will learn how to use it through the display on the device. According to the report, PMC will provide land for ATMs in these public places.
