Punjab elections: On way to PM’s rally, Sukhdev Dhindsa tests positive, returns

Rajya Sabha members and Shiromani Akali Dal (Samyukt) founder Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. The veteran Akali leader is heading to Ferozepur to participate in the rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and when he received the message via his mobile phone, he had already arrived in Moga. “I planned to attend the prime minister’s rally but had to come back from Moga. I did not have any symptoms, but I decided to isolate myself. My son Parminder Singh Dhindsa is facing health problems and he is in Chandigarh. Dhindsa provided his samples in Chandigarh on Tuesday.

Lehra MLA and SAD(S) leader Parminder Singh Dhindsa also wrote on his social media account that his father has isolated himself and advised party workers who contacted him to also be tested.

Dhindsa Senior established SAD(S) after disagreements with Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, and formed an alliance with the BJP and the Punjab People’s Assembly, led by the former chief minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, to participate in the state assembly elections.
