RailTel is now providing secure connectivity to all its subsidiaries including Coal India and CMPDI across the country. The MPLS-VPN network of CIL and its subsidiaries being set up and managed by RailTel is going to play an important role in Coal India’s Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) ‘Project Passion’.

With an aim to create a CIL, a database and a business blueprint, ‘Project Passion’ is going to play a vital role in digitizing the coal sector, which will result in process optimization and business growth.

This robust standard homogeneous MPLS-VPN network being built by RailTel is helping in synchronizing the overall operational processes of Coal India.

Coal sector is an important sector for India’s economic development and at the same time it is one of the most vulnerable sectors.

Due to location and geographical disadvantages of coal mines, coal companies used to face challenges in connecting their mines and offices on virtual platforms for effective functioning.

To address this issue, RailTel was entrusted with the task of providing MPLS VPN connectivity at 12 locations of Coal India in 2012-13. But, due to the excellent service rendered, RailTel continued to get various assignments from Coal India and its subsidiary.
