A completely wholesome family movie is difficult to find in today’s world, where storytelling has pushed all boundaries, especially online. Most movies receive a U/A certificate, which indicates that they are permitted for unrestricted public viewing with parental supervision for children under the age of 12. A U certificate, which denotes completely unrestricted viewing, is uncommon. Raksha Bandhan, a movie by director Aanand L Rai, will be released on August 11.

The Akshay Kumar-starring movie has received a U certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. Naturally, the team is happy right now. In his happy speech, Rai tells us, “For me, this is more of a personal victory.

I started working on a family-friendly show. When I was creating Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), that was unquestionably the idea. But for them, I received a U/A certificate. Although it hardly matters, I consider it a moral victory.

In Raksha Bandhan, Kumar plays a character named Lala Kedarnath who is obsessed with marrying off his four sisters, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb, and Smrithi Srikanth. In the movie, Kumar is paired up with the actress Bhumi Pednekar.

When attempting to make a movie that will appeal to every member of the family, Rai emphasises the importance of having a clear intention. “I am grateful to the Censor Board for their understanding of that. That you as a filmmaker are consistent in your intent while creating the film actually makes you feel happy, he claims.
