Three men were shot in road rage near Red Fort in Delhi on Monday night, police said, adding they had arrested the accused.
Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said a 32-year-old man and his wife were travelling home in a two-wheeler when they were hit by another two-wheeler and fall. The person who hit them was on the phone with someone at the time of the collision. After the accident, the 32-year-old man’s claim for compensation escalated into a scuffle, in which his wife was allegedly abused.
The cyclist who hit the couple called four men to the scene and they fired at the crowd who had gathered there. A relative of the couple also rushed to the scene and was injured along with two passersby. “They are all being treated and are said to be out of danger,” Kalsey said.
He was one of four people who came on two motorcycles with a pistol in hand.
Prosecutions have been brought under Indian Penal Code Section 307 (Attempted Murder), Section 34 (Act by Several Persons to Promote Common Intention) and Weapons Act.
Police said they arrested the accused after solving the case within 24 hours.
