Rumors are mounting about the Galaxy S22 and Samsung’s Exynos 2200 chip. A poll showed that most users prefer the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the S22 over the Exynos 2200 part, followed by claims that buyers of the S22 Ultra model shouldn’t have to worry about chip choice anyway. According to tipster Ahmed Qwaider, “the Exynos 2200 copy is cancelled” and “the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be available in all countries of the world”.
It’s worth remembering that the same source actually stated earlier that the Samsung/AMD chips are completely fine and “officially, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have an Exynos 2200”. Of course, information is subject to change, and leakers rely on numerous sources, often providing conflicting details. However, these claims are separated by a little more than a day from each other. Qwaider has mentioned that the information received is changing day by day, and even Ice Universe echoed the comment “European Samsung users are too excited to sleep tonight”.
While some outlets have announced that all Galaxy S22 units will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qwaider’s post apparently only mentions the S22 Ultra. So the Exynos 2200 may still be there, but in the lower-spec models of the series. Interestingly, a report by LetsGoDigital back in November 2021 claimed that the Exynos 2200 would not be in the Galaxy S22 series at all. Obviously, none of this will be certain until an official announcement from Samsung is made, but for now, it appears that the Samsung/AMD partnership may not have yielded the returns that either party was hoping for.
