Android 12 has been released for developers, and Samsung is one of the first companies to join. It has been developing the One UI 4 skin based on Android 12 and is now available for trials in India.

Similar to the global release, only Galaxy S21 series devices are eligible to be the first to get it. This includes Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 Ultra; all of these were launched earlier this year. Those who are interested in trying out the new operating system update can go to the Samsung member app and register as a beta tester. The update itself weighs 2.3GB and also brings the October security patch.

The One UI 4 update brings some of the new Material You theme designs that Google showed in the Android 12 demo at I/O 2021 earlier this year. Samsung has also brought new widgets to complement the new design themes, although they look different from those shown by Google on its Pixel devices. Samsung also brought the RAM Plus function, which works similarly to the virtual RAM expansion function of other Android phones.

Samsung will allow up to 4 GB of virtual RAM expansion on these Galaxy S21 series devices. Samsung also promised to improve the Samsung keyboard, edge panel and new microphone mode for video calls.

The last one claims to improve your voice to improve clarity. Samsung has not yet released a beta version of the new Galaxy Z foldable phone launched a few months ago. Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 may get the Android 12 update at a later stage. Samsung usually promises three years of operating system upgrades and four years of security patch support for its devices.

On the other hand, Google has not released an Android 12 version for Pixel devices. Pixel phones get the Pixel Experience through a different UI, and this year, it’s very different from the stock Android 12 update available to other Android partners.
