Samsung has announced its first major event of the year, the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 9, where the company plans to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, which will include its most “notable” phones to date, as well as a slew of tablets PC. While the tablet has yet to be explicitly announced, the company has opened up pre-orders for an unnamed tablet, all but confirming their release.
Samsung is expected to launch its flagship phones, the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, in the coming year. The company is expected to roll out these relatively minor updates to the S21, which feature a similar design, beefy internals, and slightly upgraded cameras. Of course, you can get the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Exynos 2200 depending on where you are, but like most smartphones, if you have the latest model, you can probably keep the current one.
The more important phone here is the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Judging by reports, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the joint successor to the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. It is rumored to have the same flat design as the Galaxy Note series, with a built-in S Pen. If true, this could very well be one of Samsung’s more significant launches. The company has been working on creating a unique smartphone experience through the Not brand, and it’s safe to say it succeeded. Its foldables are great, but they’re not quite there for die-hard fans who want the productivity and multitasking potential of a Note device. Samsung may be planning an S22 Ultra, which is just a Note aside from the name.
Otherwise, expect the phone’s specs to be an upgrade over the S21 Ultra. They include a massive 6.8-inch 2K display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a powerful 5,000 mAh battery, and the same super 108MP camera paired with a 12MP camera and two 10MP telephoto lenses.
