Four-time Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Simone Biles wore a three-in-one, night sky-inspired dress weighing over 40 kg at the Met Gala 2021. The dress consisted of a hand-embellished skirt covered in Swarovski crystals. More than 100 people worked for 6,650 hours to make the dress. “I personally don’t think anybody’s dress is gonna be better than mine,” the 24-year-old said.

The Met Gala 2021 marks the return of one of the most prominent and most exclusive social events in the world after a one-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. Celebrities have lit up the proceedings with the event rightly dubbed as the “Oscars of Fashion” as they walked the red carpet with great pomp. While artists from across the globe lined up for the fundraiser, the sporting fraternity did not give it a miss, with tennis superstar Naomi Osaka, F1 legend Lewis Hamilton and gymnast Simone Biles all turning heads with their outrageous costumes for the event.
