Snap co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel (Evan Spiegel) announced on Wednesday at the 2021 India virtual Snap event that Snapchat’s monthly users in India have exceeded 100 million.
The Santa Monica, California-based company also revealed its local partnership at the second India-centric event to further develop a social media camera app that focuses on the use of augmented reality ( AR) filters attract users. It also claims to increase its net new advertisers by 70% in 2020, and is introducing new monetization streams for users who create content on Snapchat.
Among its new partners, Snap announced that it is working with Flipkart to develop e-commerce AR experiences. The company is deploying its Camera Kit in Flipkart’s Camera Storefront, which is essentially an end-to-end solution for third-party developers, allowing online customers to purchase new products through a virtual experience in their location. Snap also announced a partnership with Zomato as another major partnership in India.
It is designed to help users access restaurant information and be able to place orders directly from their personal map on the Snapchat app.
In addition, Snap introduced Mumbai online cosmetics company Sugar Cosmetics and beauty brand MyGlamm into its AR shopping test program to provide Snapchat users with virtual try-on. “We have made a lot of investment to localize the Snapchat experience for the Indian community.
