Former India deputy Harbhajan Singh is hoping Virat Kohli can end his century drought in the third and final Test match of Cape Town’s series against South Africa, which begins on Tuesday. Kohli missed the second Test in Johannesburg, which India lost by seven wickets, and will return to the side for a third Test after recovering from a back spasm. The India Test captain has not been leading the way in red-ball cricket over the past few years. In more than two years, he has not played an international percentile. Kohli’s last hundred came against Bangladesh in a day and night Test in Kolkata in November 2019.
“Virat Kohli will be back in this Test. I hope his drought of the century is broken in this game, we haven’t seen a hundred of him in a long time,” Habajan said on his YouTube channel said.
In a pre-game press conference, Kohli said he didn’t mind the criticism at all.
“It’s not the first time people have talked about my form, it’s happened a few times in my career. England in 2014 was one of those stages. I don’t see myself from an outside perspective. I set my own standards, not Outside things, more proud than anyone is to be the best for the team and want to perform for the team on a regular basis,” Kohli said on Monday.
Meanwhile, Harbhajan wished the seasoned Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara good results.
“Hopefully with him Pujara, Rahane and other senior players will show their quality again. They’ve got 50 points, but I hope they can turn that into centuries,” added Harbhajan.

Both Pujara and Rahane showed signs of recovery in the second set of the Test in Johannesburg, India.
“The doubts about Pujara’s and Rahane’s choices have abated a bit because they’ve been great for half a century. They can’t turn it into a century, but because these are important knocks, I feel like they’ve cleared the front. The road should not worry about falling behind… Well done Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, they are both senior players and it feels really good when senior players come forward,” added Harbhajan.
