In view of the Corona havoc in Uttar Pradesh, the Allahabad High Court ordered the lockdown in 5 cities. But the Yogi government did not agree with this, after which the government challenged this decision of the High Court in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has put an interim stay on the lockdown order after the hearing.

After passing the order of the High Court, late on Monday night, the government made it clear that the complete lockdown is not being considered at present. After this, the Solicitor General, on behalf of the UP Government, demanded this hearing in the CJI Bench.

Significantly, the Allahabad High Court had given the verdict of lockdown in the 5 most affected cities of the state in view of the fast growing infection of Corona. The 5 cities include Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur and the lockdown period was till 26 April.
