Music company T-Series has sent notices to copyright violations to several social video apps, including Bolo Indya, Friends, MX Player’s Takataka, Triller, and Josh. T-series has also warned these apps to use their content on their forums.

Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited, a company operating under the T-series brand name, has asked these apps to pay a loss of around Rs 3.5 crore and submit accounts of all revenue earned illegally. The company has also given notice to China’s app Snack Video, which is operational in India and a lawsuit has been filed against the short-video app Roposo. When contacted, T-Series-appointed Ira Law Firm confirmed the issuance of notice to these platforms.

Ira Law partner Gitanjali Vishwanathan said that the named video app has been given legal notice and a lawsuit has been filed against Roposo. Bolo Indya said that it does not offer audio and video library as a feature for users.

Therefore, there is no basis for infringement of copyright rights to music. Triller declined to comment on the matter and other companies have not yet responded to a question asked in this regard.
