Hawkins was drummer for the rock band Foo Fighters. His death is being called a “tragic and untimely loss”. No details about how Hawkins died were immediately available.
He also starred in Foo Fighters’ recently released horror-comedy film, “Studio 666,” with Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Hawkins and other members of the band are killed off one by one. The film allowed the group, who for decades have been one of rock music’s most durable acts. It came out of their work on their 10th studio album at a home in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley.
Hawkins was the drummer for 25 of Foo Fighters’ 28 years. He joined the band in 1997, taking over for original drummer William Goldsmith. It’s the second time Grohl has lost a close bandmate following Cobain and Grohl’s death.
