A terrorist was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag on Saturday, police said.
The forces recovered an AK-47 from him during the joint operation in the Larnoo area of the district. More details are awaited.
On Wednesday, two unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Shopian district of the Union territory. Security forces had launched a search operation in the district’s Chakura area based on inputs about the presence of terrorists there.
He said the search operation turned into a gunfight after the militants fired upon the search team, drawing retaliation. In the exchange of fire, one militant was killed, the official said.
An AK rifle was recovered from the encounter site, the official added.
The operation is on, he said.
A joint operation was launched today early morning based on Jammu and Kashmir Police inputs. Cordon was laid and contact was established. Firefight ensued.
Based on inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area, security forces launched a cordon and search operation on Friday night. The operation is now over, a police official said, adding that the search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon a security forces party, who retaliated.
The identity and group affiliation of the terrorists is being ascertained, he added. One M4 Rifle and one Pistol were recovered.
On October 7, three terrorists were killed by the security forces in an encounter in the Sugan Zainapora area of Shopian district. In a similar incident, two terrorists were killed in the Samboora area of Awantipora district on September 27.
He added that it is not only terrorism, but Pakistan doesn’t do normal trade with India and has not given New Delhi MFN (Most Favoured Nation) status.
“We don’t have a normal visa relationship, they are very restrictive on that score. They have blocked connectivity between India and Afghanistan and from Afghanistan to India,”
