Dozens of car owners posted on social media that they saw an error message on the mobile app that prevented them from connecting to the vehicle.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk personally responded to the complaint of a South Korean driver.

He said on Twitter: “Checking.” Mr. Musk later said that the application will be back online. The Tesla app is used by drivers as a key to unlock and start the car.

Car owners posted a large number of complaints about the unavailability of their vehicles on the Internet. “I’m an hour away from home because I usually start the car with my phone,” one car owner wrote on Twitter.

According to the outage tracking website DownDetector, about 500 users reported errors in the app around 16:40 Eastern Time (21:40 GMT) on Friday. After five hours, there were only more than 60 error reports.
