Controversy erupted on day 3 of the third and final Test between South Africa and India in Cape Town when the LBW sacking over Proteas captain Dean Elgar’s overthrow angered India . India captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain KL Rahul and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin ensured their frustrations could be heard on the stump microphones as the series was charged on South Africa’s official broadcaster.
Proteas pacemaker Lungi Ngidi reacted to the incident in a press conference after the day, saying such a reaction showed the Indian team was under “a little bit of pressure”.
“Reactions like this show some frustration, and sometimes the team takes advantage of that. You never want to show so much emotion, but we could see it was high. That tells us they felt a little bit of pressure,” Ngidi said of the incident .
Proteas pacemaker further said that India wants to “break” the partnership and everyone “reacts differently”.
