Virat Kohli continues to receive excessive reactions after DRS episode that gave Dean Elgar a lifeline to let it rip on the stump mic. While Michael Vaughan says Kohli’s outburst needs to be fined or suspended, former South African batsman Daryl Cullinan believes the India captain has been at large for too long for his actions and wants him “severely punished” .
Reactions have been pouring in from around the world, most notably by two former Australian cricketers and legends Shane Warner and Adam Gilchrist on the matter. Former Australian wicketkeeper and batsman Gilchrist weighed in on the episode, saying the India captain’s frustration was ‘brewing’ until it reached the point of no return
“That allegation I’m interested in Warney; it seems a bit premeditated. It’s been building up or brewing and it’s reached a tipping point. I’m assuming it goes all the way back to that when the Australian was caught on camera. when, very ground,” Gilchrist said.
Vaughan admitted that the delivery looked like it hit a tree stump, saying “there’s no way to get past it, though it’ll be smashed in half”. The former leg swinger, especially given the fact that he was “captain of the international team”, then pointed to the frustration that has grown over time.
“It’s funny to watch, I’m not sure this should happen to an international captain. But sometimes the frustration can spill over and you can get so frustrated and that’s why I said I wonder if this has happened. Three or four times this series, it’s like ok, now we can’t have it anymore,” Warne said.
