The Taj Palace New Delhi hosted the FDCI India Couture Week 2022 finale, which was sponsored by Lotus Make-up. The couture collection by designer Anamika Khanna, dubbed An Experiment, was inspired by a desire to push boundaries. The partner in the fashion alliance for couture week is HT City Showstoppers.
The circular red ramp’s spike-like structures added a fitting finishing touch. The models strutted down the ramp while donning gold jewellery, including maang tikka, nose studs, stacked neckpieces, bangles, rings, and ankle bangles. The jewellery was inspired by the Goddesses and made references to tribal India. The clothing in the collection ranged from intricate separates and flowy capes to denim co-ords and torn bottoms, with pearl taking centre stage and metallica playing a significant role.
The designer’s signature elements were present in the collection, including embellished drapes, intricate beadwork, sequins, and embossed pearls. Khanna was known for experimenting with silhouettes and didn’t hesitate to try haphazard patterns, which led to mesmerising forms. “Experimentation is welcome in this collection. We move to combine something old with something new after becoming aware of the amazing Indian silhouettes, textiles, and sentiments, she said.
Rajkummar Rao, the show’s star turn, made his entrance in the second half to thunderous applause. He was dressed in a black blazer, flared pants, and torn shoes. A silver neckpiece that was stacked and layered, as well as rings and a kada, completed the outfit. Khanna, meanwhile, wore a blazer with torn satin embroidery, matching bottoms, and silver pointed-toe heels. The colour scheme ranged from dark, brooding blacks and delicate ivory lace to vibrant red and emeralds.
