Police said on Tuesday that three militants from the Resistance Front (TRF), including one who recently killed a non-local street vendor here, were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A police official said that after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, security forces launched a cordon and search operation on Monday night in the Tulran district of Imam Sahab in Shopian, southern Kashmir. He said that after the militants opened fire on the army’s search team, the search operation turned into an encounter.
The official said that in the subsequent gun battle, three militants were killed. The police said they belonged to the front line of TRF-Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
