Officials said that late Thursday night, a gun battle broke out in Gomander Mohalla in the Pantha Chowk area of ​​Srinagar. Three militants were killed and four security personnel were injured.

GNS News Agency quoted a senior police officer as saying that the police went to the area to arrest a suspect.

However, when a police team tried to enter a house, they were shot violently and two police officers were injured.

A police spokesperson confirmed the news on Twitter, “In the initial exchange of fire, 03 policemen and 01 CRPF personnel were injured and were subsequently transferred to the hospital.”

“03 unidentified #terrorists were killed. #guilty material, including #arms & ammunition resumed. The search is ongoing,” he quoted IGP Kashmir as saying in another tweet.

He further stated that one of the victims was involved in Zewan’s attack on a police car.

“One of the killed #terrorists was identified as Suhail Ahmad instead of #terror equipped with JeM. As revealed in yesterday’s PC, the terrorist Suhail also participated in #ZewanTerrorAttack. All the terrorists involved in the Zewan attack have been #neutralised: IGP Kashmir,” read the tweet.
