In the midst of the Coronavirus crisis, the Tihar Jail Administration (Delhi) will release around 3000 prisoners to reduce congestion. DG (Jail) Sandeep Goyal said, “We will try to release around 1500 prisoners on parole/furlough while 1500 undertrial prisoners on interim bail”. Significantly, only those prisoners imprisoned for up to 7 years will be released.
