The Indian Antarctic Bill 2022 aims to provide national measures to protect the Antarctic environment. The bill also aims to give effect to the Antarctic Treaty and other international agreements. It will provide a regulatory framework for India’s research activities in the Antarctic region, it has been announced.
The move follows a question raised by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, an MP in the lower house of India’s parliament.
