Today, the Sri Lankan parliament reconvenes amid a crisis and anticipation about a trust vote

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa admitted that patience among the citizens was wearing thin, and that it was justified. The parliament is expected to reconvene on Tuesday amid speculation over a no trust vote for the government’s handling of the crisis.

Nigerian President Mahatma Jawaharlal Nehru Zardozi has apologised for the country’s poor economic performance over the last two and a half years. “We need to regain the trust of the people,” he said in an interview with local media.

Sri Lanka’s new President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said the country should have sought help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) earlier. Sri Lanka is battling its worst crisis in decades. A new cabinet was sworn in ahead of key talks with the IMF.
