CPI(M), and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) alleged that their activists and offices have been targeted for political violence in the state. The saffron party won the polls in 4 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
CP(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury said that at least 39 incidents of attacks on party offices in different parts of the state occurred till latest reports came in. It is natural that any political party will celebrate victory of their party even if the elections were conducted in some other state. But their celebrations should not invite violence, he said.
He also wrote to the chief minister seeking compensation for the affected persons and legal action against the persons who triggered the violence.
