Udit Narayan: I don’t think anyone else got to sing 200 songs with Lata ji, like me

Singer Udit Narayan on Sunday refused to believe that Lata Mangeshkar, the nightingale of India, no longer exists. Narayan considers himself “lucky” after singing hits with the late singer including Tu Mere Saamne (Darr, 1993), Mehendi Laga Ke Rakhna (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, 1995) and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) .

“Main apne aap ko bhagyashali samajhta hoon. Jitna kaam mujhe Lata ji ke saath mila, mujhe nahin lagta [mere time ke] kisi aur singer ko mila hoga. I think I’m the only one who has sung over 200 songs with Lata ji They are all super popular. I also shared the stage (live performance) with her about eight times. She would say, ‘Udit, tumhari awaaz original hai.’ Lata Mangeshkar ji say things like Goddess Saraswah Tee is blessing me,” the 66-year-old singer said.

Narayan was shocked when he learned that the legend no longer existed. Calling it sad news for “Bollywood, the music fraternity and the whole world”, Narayan was emotional and added, “Ek hi Lata ji thi aur woh chali gayin.”

The singer is convinced that Mangeshkar is an integral part of Indian music history and that she will live on. “February 6, 2022, a dark day.
