On Thursday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the grand inauguration of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Prior to the bhoomi pujan event, the Noida Traffic Police issued a consultation detailing traffic diversions and alternative routes. Earlier this morning, it was reported that there was a 6km traffic jam on the road to Jewar.
Noida International Airport (NIA) will become the second international airport in the capital region after Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport.
It is worth noting that the first phase of the airport covers an area of more than 1,300 hectares and is scheduled to start flight operations in 2024. After completion, the airport is also considered the largest airport in Asia.

“After 7 years of independence, Uttar Pradesh started to get what it deserves for the first time. Thanks to the efforts of the’two-engine sarkar’, today Uttar Pradesh is becoming the most closely connected region in the country,” said
Modi added that the airport “will be able to help farmers because it will speed up the export process. With the help of this airport, all goods will reach foreign markets faster.”
“Thousands of jobs were created during the construction of the airport. The airport also needs thousands of people to operate smoothly. The airport will also provide new jobs for thousands of people in the west of UP,” the prime minister said.
“Noida International Airport will be directly connected to a dedicated freight corridor. The airport will become a logistics gateway,” Prime Minister Modi said.
“This project will change people’s lives. Jewar Airport will benefit the people of Noida and the West of UP,” Prime Minister Modi said at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, took the stage.
“Uttar Pradesh, which has only four airports so far, now has nine, which will be the 10th. In the next few years, the state will have 17 airports. Uttar Pradesh will have five international airports instead of two,” Scindia said at the event.

Jewar Airport will be connected via Yamuna Highway and Noida Metro. The proposed 800-kilometer high-speed rail line between Delhi and Varanasi is also expected to stop at the new airport.
“The design of the airport focuses on the convenience of passengers. The process of the airport will be digitalized. We are working hard to become a net zero carbon emission airport, and the goal is to put it into operation by September/October 2024,” Noida International Airport Chief Operating Officer Kiran Jain told the news agency.
