The Government of Uttar Pradesh has directed the Department of Tourism and Culture to develop the places associated with Maharishi Valmiki and Tulsidas – Lalapur and Rajapur (Chitrakoot) as tourist destinations. According to the principal secretary of the department, Mukesh Meshram, in the first phase, the forest department has been given the task of preparing the access road to Valmiki Ashram.
