Projectors used to be boring devices pegged to office ceilings. Advances in projectors have added portability and flexibility to where and when you want to watch a movie or work on a presentation.
I recently used Viewsonic’s M1+ projector, a small portable projector that is not only easy to carry, but also a great device for watching web series or movies.
Plus, the 360-degree stand it’s attached to makes it easy to place anywhere. Due to limited space, it has a few buttons, so you have to carry the remote with you for playback, navigation and volume control.

The rear panel of the projector has many ports for connectivity options, including a microSD slot, HDMI 1.4, a power port for charging, and USB-C and USB-A slots, among others.
The M1+ stands out with three new features: new 16GB of internal storage, app compatibility and wireless connectivity. In addition, the projector’s operating system has been overhauled.
The M1+ offers 1080p FHD resolution; video quality is decent, if not too impressive, for a projector of this size. That said, it’s also up to you to resize it. For example, at the maximum size, the quality does decrease, but it would be better to keep the screen size around 45 inches.
I use the projector in a dark room, but during the day when light leaks through the window it becomes difficult to watch anything with the projector because the video is not very clear. That said, a projector of this size does basic work, so there aren’t many complaints there.
I watch a lot of 1080p youtube videos and it’s fun, but watching action movies on Netflix isn’t as enjoyable as a projector can sometimes be. However, it does well in less fast-paced movies and even web dramas.
The projector’s built-in app store, Aptoide, is tedious and disappointing. It lacks some popular apps that we use regularly.
The projector scores well for fan noise; if the projector is too close, you’ll notice a faint hum.
The sound of the M1+ is impressive for a projector of this size. Harman Kardon speakers are bright and powerful enough to enjoy a movie or web series. Not only that, but I also enjoy listening to music.
Most portable projectors don’t have long battery life, and this one is no exception. When fully charged, you can get about 5 hours of battery life.
