Vishwa Deenadayalan of Tamil Nadu died in a road accident on Sunday. He was travelling from Guwahati to Shillong in a car with his three teammates.. A 12-wheel trailer ploughed through the road divider and hit the vehicle at Shangbangla.
His teammates suffered severe injuries but are currently stable in hospital. The organisers of the championships had rushed them to Shillong for treatment.
Vishwa Deenadayalan’s body will be flown to Chennai from Guwahati on Monday morning. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said he was a “legend-in-making” and “it pains me that he left us too soon”.
