cVIGIL app/user identity will be kept confidential, complain of photo and video violation of code of conduct
Election Commission has introduced the cVIGIL app for the whole of India to empower citizens during the Lok Sabha elections. Through this app, voters will be able to send their information to the election officials through a photo and video of this violation. It is claimed that if the complaint is found correctly, it will be resolved within 100 minutes. Earlier this app has been done in the assembly elections held in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Rajasthan under the pilot project.
Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that the
Android-based cVIGIL mobile app is very easy to use. The user can upload photos
and videos up to two minutes in the app, but before uploading, the user has to
give brief information about the incident. If the user wants to keep his
identity confidential, then this feature is also available in the app.

Through the Geographic Information System (GIS), these
complaints will be allocated to the Flying Squad Team through the District
Control Room. Which will have to be resolved by the authorities within 100
minutes.
How the cVIGIL app will work …
1. Users can upload photos or videos of up to 2 minutes on
the app to report the violation of the code of conduct.
2. Before uploading the photo or video, the user will also have to give brief information about the incident.
3. After uploading, the user will get a unique ID, through
which they can track the followup on the mobile itself. During this process,
the identity of the complaining user will be kept confidential.

4. The app will not allow uploading pre-recorded videos or photos so that the app can be prevented from being misused.
5. Apart from this, videos or photos recorded through the
cVIGIL app will also not be saved in the phone gallery.
6. During the Code of Conduct, sharing of any illegal documents, corruption and disputed statements on behalf of leaders can be reported through this app.
